Lakeside Cottage

The proposal for the cottage by the lake involved design language with natural material pallet . The cottage was designed to be raised on stilt considering the soil condition beside the lake being soft and also anticipating overflow of the lake in future. Client being into Aviculture, the setup of the birds was arranged in one corner of the site which can be viewed from the house. The huge decked veranda was to accommodate constant friends and visitors coming over having a view of the lake and bask the breeze. The other smaller bedroom also is for a resting space for the elders who would visit during the day.In option-1 the Living area proposed in stone masonry load-bearing walls, was kept grounded whereas the rest of the cottage raises up by 7’ to accommodate parking of vehicles underneath which also functions as spilt level inside the cottage & as a raised deck outside.

Option-2 was kept minimal to achieve a smaller built-up area which entirely raises up by 3’. Exposed brick walls & ceilings, smaller veranda space to optimize the budget.

Overall design of the cottage was kept minimal to the site context accommodating a couple and their visitors who would like to spend most of the time outdoors.
